WANDER

Our Story

Hi! We're so glad you're here.

I'm Jessica, wife and mom to three amazing littles. My husband and I took what was once just a thought and turned it into this app with the help of our team and friends.

The drive that started it

The idea for Wander came during a drive, searching for a playground without gravel terrain, where my kids could play more comfortably (and I didn't have to deal with all the dust that comes with all those little rocks). I just wanted a simple way to know what a park was actually like before we got there.

What started as a wish to make park outings easier for moms quickly grew into something bigger.

Beyond playgrounds

With encouragement and a vision to expand beyond playgrounds, we built a platform that helps families, pet owners, and outdoor enthusiasts discover parks, dog parks, splash pads, sports fields, and walking trails, tailored to what your day actually needs.

Our mission is to take the stress out of planning outdoor time by giving you the tools to find spaces that truly fit your lifestyle.

Where we are now

Wander covers 25 cities across five provinces: Toronto, Ottawa, Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Vancouver and Regina among them. There are more than 29,000 outdoor spots in the database, including 7,500 playgrounds and 370 off-leash dog parks, alongside trails, splash pads, washrooms, drinking fountains and sports courts.

The details come from city open data, careful curation, and people who've actually been. We're honest in the app about where that runs thin: some cities publish where a playground is and nothing about what's in it, and when we can't answer a question we say so and ask for help rather than showing you an empty screen.

Wander is free on the App Store for iPhone now, with Android on the way. More cities are coming too. If yours isn't here, tell us.

A small team, a real inbox

Wander is built by a small team in Canada. A real person reads every email, so if you have a park we should know about, an idea, a question, or a complaint, send it.
